  • Many dairy farmers have always wanted to sell their own milk to local people through their own company, well in 2000 that's what a group of Welsh Organic farmers did. Initially there were four members, now Calon Wen numbers 25 family farms & still growing.
  • Calon Wen aim remains the same, to secure a long term market for organic milk from Wales by supporting organic processing, and delivering milk locally as well as further afield.
  • We supply companies like Rachel's in Aberystwyth and Caws Cenarth in Carmarthenshire with all their requirements for fresh organic milk. We also bottle our own milk in the dairy at Whitland the building, of which we've been closely involved with.
  • Calon Wen is the first dairy in the UK to achieve the Soil Association Ethical Trade Symbol. This confirms Calon Wen's commitment to fair and ethical trading relationships with everyone involved in the production and packing of Calon Wen milk and, also, our commitment to support the local communities where Calon Wen farmers live and work.
  • Calon Wen pays it's farmers for the quality as well as the quantity of milk they produce which means our farmers are not pushed towards high yielding systems. We have consistently paid our farmers above the market price for quality milk and we have a strong track record that gives long term security to our members.
  • Calon Wen organic milk undergoes minimum processing to retain
    its goodness and flavour. It is simply pure, unadulterated milk,
    which is pasteurised, packaged and sold... and crucially
    not Homogenised, so you still get a creamy head on the milk
    if you don't shake the bottle first.
